As we’ve all heard by now, drinking in moderation can have its benefits. But as we also may know, drinking too much beer can lead to the inevitable bummer of a beer gut. Thankfully, editors at the Daily Beast have put together a list of the 50 least-fattening (not, as they claim, most healthy) beers.  Follow this list and you too can keep that stellar physique you work so hard on.

The list focuses on which beers have the fewest calories and carbs for the most alcoholic percentage. That is, something with a lower alcoholic percentage (4% instead of 5%, say) could have fewer calories, but it also won’t get you as drunk as fast…and no one wants that!  Also, it’s been said that dark beers may be more heart-healthy than lighter brews, but this list doesn’t take that into account.  This list simply tells you which drinks are least likely to cause the weight gain associated with caloric/carbohydrate intake.

So without further ado, half of The List:

1      I.C. Light – 95 cal, 2.8 carbs, 4.15% ABV

2.     Michelob Ultra – 95 cal, 2.6 carbs, 4.1% ABV

3.     Natural Light – 95 cal, 3.2 carbs, 4.2% ABV

4.     Budweiser Select – 99 cal, 3.1 carbs, 4.3% ABV

5.     Miller Lite – 96 cal, 3.2 carbs, 4.2% ABV

6.     Select 55 – 55 cal, 1.9 carbs, 2.4% ABV (wow, this one is a weak brew!)

7.     Busch Light – 95 cal, 3.2 carbs, 4.1% ABV

8.     MGD 64 – 64 cal, 2.4 carbs, 2.8% ABV

9.     Modelo Especial – 145 cal, 4 carbs, 6% ABV

10.   Milwaukee’s Best Light – 98 cal, 3.5 carbs, 4.2% ABV

11.   Michelob Ultra Amber 0 95 cal, 3.2 carbs, 4% ABV

12.   Miller Chill – 100 cal, 4 carbs, 4.2% ABV

13.   Keystone Ice – 142 cal, 5.9 carbs, 5.9% ABV

14.   Corona Light – 109 cal, 5 carbs, 4.5% ABV

15.   Coors Light – 102 cal, 5 carbs, 4.2% ABV

16.   Bud Ice – 123 cal, 8.9 carbs, 5.5% ABV

17.   Milwaukee’s Best Ice – 144 cal, 7.4 carbs, 5.9% ABV

18.   Michelob Ultra Lime Cactus – 95 cal, 5.5 carbs, 4% ABV

19.   Icehouse Light – 123 cal, 6.6 cabrs, 5% ABV

20.   Southpaw Light – 123 cal, 6.6 carbs, 5% ABV

21.   Keystone Light – 104 cal, 5 carbs, 4.1% ABV

22.   Bud Light – 110 cal, 6.6 carbs, 4.5% ABV

23.   Keystone Premium – 111 cal, 5.8 cabrs, 4.4% ABV

24.   Guiness Foreign Extra Stout – 176 cal, 14 carbs, 7.5 % ABV

25.   Leinenkugels Light – 109 cal, 5.8 carbs, 4.2% ABV

So that’s half of the list.  The rest of the list includes some beers you probably shouldn’t drink, regardless of their alleged “healthiness” ( I’m looking at you, Steel Reserve and Olde English). Most of the beers on the list are “light” beers, and all but a few are light-brewed…Guinness  is the only dark beer on the list, and anything telling me a 40oz of malt liquor is better for me than say, a delightful stout or porter, must be crazy. I say stick to your favorite brew and enjoy it more – just drink one or two fewer than you usally do, or run a couple laps around your neighborhood once in a while.
