Jewelry company RUX realizes the idea that a piece of jewelry is often very personal. Be it a wedding band, a grandmother's pearl necklace, or a vintage bracelet, people often wear pieces of jewelry that mean something to them. RUX is taking it one step further – by providing just a photograph of a loved one, they can create a 3D portrait of a person’s profile, superimposed into a bracelet or a ring. And while the idea is pretty cool, it comes with a hefty price tag – the prices start at $350 for a bracelet (which is just a resin bangle) and $1700 for an 18K gold or platinum ring.

As far as the bracelets go – they’re rather chunky and gaudy, and because they’re as big as they are, it’s hard to say if anyone would notice that they’re actually a profile. The rings, on the other hand, would be a nice alternative to a plain gold/platinum band if you were getting married. I really like the idea of the profile ring, even though it is rather pricey.

What do you guys think? Would you wear profile jewelry?
