Shoppers, Retailers Prepare for Third-Annual Fashion’s Night Out

On September 8, shopaholics and retailers around the world will participate in Fashion’s Night Out, a one-day celebration dedicated to fashion, shopping, and fun.

According to NBC Chicago, Fashion’s Night Out (FNO) was first conceived in 2009 as a way to encourage retail sales and support for the fashion industry during tough economic times. The first Fashion’s Night Out launched around the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York, with events restricted to the Big Apple, but has since expanded to cities around the world.

Though events vary by store and location, many FNO celebrations feature sales, sweepstakes, fashion shows, celebrity guest stars, and more. Hundreds of retailers around the U.S. are hosting Fashion’s Night Out events, as are cities and shops in Australia, Russia, France, and 15 other countries. Consumers can also participate online or via home shopping channels like HSN and QVC.
