As if having good looks weren’t enough…
According to a recent study conducted by the London School of Economics, beautiful people are more intelligent, on average, than Plain Janes and Average Joes, and children of these doubly-blessed couples tend to inherit both qualities.
The study, which measured the intelligence and academic progress of 52,000 people in the UK and the United States in addition to scoring each participant’s appearance, found that handsome men scored 13.6 points above the average IQ score of 100 while hot babes scored 11.4 points above the norm.
"In the samples, physical attractiveness is significantly positively associated with general intelligence, both with and without controls for social class, body size and health. The association between physical attractiveness and general intelligence is also stronger among men than among women," lead researcher Satoshi Kanazawa said.
However, Kanazawa cautions against treating beautiful people differently.
"Our contention that beautiful people are more intelligent is purely scientific,” he said. “It is not a prescription for how to treat or judge others."
No word of if the opposite is true, that is, if unattractive people are less intelligent than the average man or woman.
