With Halloween just around the corner, you may be tempted to sneak some treats from your kid’s trick-or-treating stash. Or, if you don’t have kids, you might find those November 1st-Halloween-candy-sales just too hard to resist. Now, we all know that candy isn’t the most healthy food in the world, but not all sugary treats are created equal. In fact, some are much worse than others. Here’s a list of the top ten most unhealthy/most-fattening (which also probably means most delicious, unfortunately) candies.
Coming in at Number One is Twix: with 286 calories, 10.8 grams of saturated fat, and 37 grams of carbohydrates, you may want to just eat one of those twin candy bars.
Next up is Milky Way, clocking in at 264 calories, 7 grams of saturated fat, aand 41.3 grams of carbohydrates.
Third place goes to Baby Ruth, which, let’s be honest, seems almost unfair since it has peanuts in it, and nuts of any kind are always going to add lots of calories to a food. Baby Ruth has 275 calories, 7.3 grams of saturated fat, and 38.9 grams of carbs.
The fourth most fattening candy bar, unlike what their commercials boast, is the “light” 3 Musketeers, which has 262 calories, 5.2 grams of saturated fat, and a whopping 46.7 grams of carbohydrates. This one kind of baffles me – every advertisement for this candy bar shows thin women jumping in the air to grasp the light and fluffy confection. Yet here, we learn its really not so light. I know that inherently, a chocolate bar isn’t going to be low-calorie, but those commercials are misleading, no?
Number 5 goes to Mounds (sometimes you feel like a nut…sometimes you don’t, and when you don’t, Mounds is there for you… with 258 calories, 11 grams of saturated fat, and 31.1 grams of carbs).
The 6th most unhealthy candy bar is Butterfinger. Alright guys, it’s got “butter” in its name. Who are they trying to fool? Butterfinger has 275 calories, 5.7 grams of saturated fat, and 43.7 grams of carbohydrates.
7th place goes to Rolo…you know, the roll of chocolate covered caramels that are sort of thimble shaped? I practically forgot this existed. Rolo has 228 calories, 7 grams of saturated fat, and 32.6 grams of carbs.
Next at bat in 8th place is M&Ms, with 236 calories, 6.3 grams of saturated fat, and 34.2 grams of carbs.
Almond Joy is in 9th place, unsurprisingly… If Mounds was on this list, I figured Almond Joy wasn’t far behind. This candy bar has 235 calories, 8.6 grams of saturated fat, and 29.2 grams of carbohydrates.
And last but not least, in tenth place, is Snickers (Hungry? Why wait: There’s 280 calories, 5.2 grams of saturated fat, and 35.1 grams of carbs to fill you up).
There’s nothing wrong with eating candy now and then, but eating too much candy might have you looking like a Halloween pumpkin! Be careful out there.
